Cinco de Mayo

A little history for those of you not familiar with the holiday. Until I moved west, all May 5th was to me was my brother's brithday.  For the last 48 years it's a celebration of good food and fun.  No battles today.

Cinco de Mayo (pronounced: [ˈsiŋko ðe ˈmaʝo]; Spanish for "Fifth of May") is a celebration held on May 5. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza

Happy Cinco de Mayo Everyone.  Mexican food and Margueritas for everyone.  Ray and I are going to a party this evening.. I'll share a toast for all of you.

Arriba and a Happy Birthday to my brother.  See you later for more Aimless Rambling.

  7. Same to you, Sunny! Hope it was a wonderful party. Cinco de Mayo always makes me remember drinking beer on a beach in Cozumel. But then again I remember drinking beers in many places!

  8. A little humor.
Many people don't know but the Titanic was scheduled to visit Mexico several days after it was to visit New York. It was carrying 5000 cases of gourmet British mayonnaise which was to be delivered to the Mexicans on May 5th.
When it went down , the Mexicans, terribly disappointed, sadly proclaimed that forever more May 5th would be declared "Sinko the Mayo"
