I'm home now. Yeah. When last I posted, the car was having a temper tantrum. Had to be that because when it was towed back to the dealership again, the diagnostic machine found nothing wrong. Okay, so the check engine light and the fact that it kept stalling much have been a figment of our imagination. Let me just say that the two hundred sixty mile trip Tuesday was a little hand clenching since most of it is across the desert where there are no services. Thank you, Lord, we made it and the light hasn't come back on.
We were glad to be home...We opened the garage door and were hit with a horrible odor. Our trash cans are in the garage and in the summer, that happens depending on what we've pitched. Oh, well the trashmen come again Friday. When I opened the door to the house, the odor had permeated the house - it was bad. I went around plugging in air fresheners, lighting candles, you know the routine.
I opened the refrigerator to get a cold bottle of water and was almost knocked to the floor by the smell. It wasn't the trash cans - it was the rotting food in the freezer and refrigerator. OMG, it was the most horrible thing. My wonderful hubby did most of the grunt work cleaning out the disgusting mess and we've bought out the local supply of air fresheners, but the house is almost free of that odor.
So our welcome home night was spent at Home Depot buying a new fridge. Guess what, they only keep a floor item, the rest are in a warehouse and delivery is one week out. So, we bought one of those little fridges to keep us until next Tuesday.Thank you, friend, for inviting us over for dinner and to smell a normal house
This morning, I'm out the door to buy a few groceries to tide us over and then out to lunch with my water aerobic girlies. Life is almost back to normal. YAHOO.
See you later for more Aimless Ramblings.
UGH what a terrible welcome home...but I am glad you are back....and looking forward to a sweet smelling home and a new fridge. hugs abby
ReplyDeleteThanks abby. I think the odor has finally left my nostrils. lol

ReplyDeleteRosie xx
Me too, Rosie. Thanks.
DeleteYuck! This post should have been titled the "Perils of Sunny and Her Hubby." Glad you are home safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteDue to a cat that ate anything I left out on the counter, I thawed meat in a cold oven. Yep! I forgot, and we left for a long weekend. When we got home the temps outside were sub zero. We opened the house and kept our coats on. Needless to say, Sam was really pissed!
