In Real Life

We have arrived at our new home for the next six weeks.  It was a long trip.  Only 700 actual miles but it seemed more than 1700.  Wasn't sure we were ever going to get here. Pretty sure we will be flying the next time we come this way.  Once we got out of the Los Angeles area though it was new territory for us.  When we traveled north before we would always go up the coast, this time we went inland.  Some real whoop de doos and switchbacks and we didn't even have to buy a ticket. Wouldn't want to travel the route on a full stomach.  Beautiful though.

We're in Monterey County, on the El Camino Real, settled in a valley among tons of awesome rock formations, giant boulders, eucalyptus trees and blue skies. Breathtaking.

Daughter, Son in Law and grandkids are fantastic and it will be the longest stretch of time we have spent together since she went away to college umpteen years ago. Looking forward to great times visiting old haunts and creating new memories.  Tomorrow is grandson's football game and Friday is SIL's schools homecoming football game and Saturday, other grandsons soccer game and so it goes.

Weather is perfect, warm sunny days and cool mornings and evenings.  Daughter lives in an area that is fraught with apple orchards. The sweet scent of apples, the acrid smell of a wood burning fire and the skittering of fallen leaves tells me that fall is definitely here and I am loving every minute of it.

We have been pretty vanilla lately, just a few little spankings here and there. We've played the dice game a couple of times - that's fun.   My birthday is coming up so I know there will be lots of fireworks then.

Along with the pretty new colors on my blog I have added a new gadget.  With Hermione's help my fiction is now in its own place.  I have been writing pretty regularly and getting some nice feedback so for a while I will post a new story every Monday.  When the well dries up I'll do something else but I think I'm good until the end of the year anyway.

The internet is working fine.  No television though (not that I miss it - did get to watch my Denver Broncos finally come out of the fog Monday night )  and can only text in the RV.  Phone conversations are relegated to the outdoors. It's almost like the dark ages. Other than that can't think of anything else right now.

See you later for more Aimless Ramblings.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your post and all that is going on in your life. I spent my Honeymoon in Northern California. Enjoy your time with your family and your travels! I will look forward to seeing you stories, too.

  2. Sounds absolutely wonderful. Spending time with your family is perfect. It will make the kids so happy when you go to their games. I am not really a great sports person but kids don't seem to care as long as you are there.
Thank you for putting up a new story every Monday, now I have something to look forward to after the weekend!

  6. I like that you've got a nice blend of some kink - with the dice game, and family. Grand-parenting sounds like so much fun. You can get all the fun of the kids and not the responsibility of raising them. You all keep enjoying yourselves!

    Hugs,
    PK

I like the idea of a Monday fiction feature from you, and glad I could be of help in showcasing your stories.

  9. Ooh, that's a beautiful drive and area. Lots of things to see and places to go for nice hikes. If you haven't been, you MUST take some grandkids and go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It's the best. Enjoy your family Sunnygirl.

I like the idea of Monday fiction too!

    1. It is a beautiful part of the country. But then, this whole country is filled with such beauty - whether it be sea, desert, fields of green. Listen to me waxing poetic.

We plan on taking the grands to the Aquarium. We were there just after it opened and haven't been back since. That was before they were born. OMG, time flies.

Love being with the kids. They are a kick.

  13. Looks like a gorgeous area! Enjoy the time with your family! If your Internet is working, you can watch every new episode of TV shows on the 'net by going to free-tv-video-online.me Click on TV Shows at the top, then voila!

Don't download anything - always choose the "watch as free user" or just hit the play button. Because its a free site, you do have to close all the pop ups that open with it, but its worth it! Hope it works for you!

  15. Yes! That is an amazing view. Wistful sigh... I hope you have a wonderful Autumn with your family.

We're driving through the midwest today, barely hilly, but the Fall colors on the trees are gorgeous.

I had to laugh about your tech challenges - go here to use this but not that, go there to use that but not this, go elsewhere to use the other, hop on one foot while pointing to the sky and singing. Lol! ;-)

I'm putting Sunny Monday Story Telling on my calender. Thank you!

    1. I love hearing from you Irishey. Your writing is always so encouraging. My hubby and I laughed out loud at your comment about the tech challenges.

Be safe driving through the midwest. Yes, the colors can be fantastic this time of year. Mother Nature outdoes herself with God's pallette.

Let us hear from you when you can.
