No Capcha Here

As you dropped by this week you probably noticed  I'm screening comments right now.
Nothing bad happened, it is just that I've been getting a lot more anonymous "spam" comments lately.   Many of you have mentioned that you are not accepting anonymous comments any more. Is this why?

I'll still accept anonymous comments if they are not spam but I've chosen the moderation route for the interim.  I hate capcha so I didn't want to go that way.   What did surprise me is how much spam blogger was already capturing.

Things here have been pretty quiet this week.  Starting to get things together for our move at the end of the month.  Looking forward to seeing the grands.  They do a lot of growing in six months.

For all my teacher friends, saw this and had to share.  I know my daughter feels this way.
Today is her last day and she is so over it.  Of course, now she has the boys full time for the summer.  Grammy and Grampy will be there to pitch in though.

Have a great weekend and see you later for more Aimless Ramblings.

  1. Hi,

I use the moderation method. I do receive a lot of spam, but I just delete it.

I love the photo of the owls.

    1. Yes, I report it as spam. I like the idea of moderation because it doesn't give them the exposure they're seeking.

According to my daughter, the owls are pretty true to life.

  2. Think I'm going to have to put mine on again, getting more spam than ever.

Have a wonderful weekend. Love the pic. PK will appreciate it:)

  3. As a retired teacher, I had to share that pic with all my teacher friends....it pretty much sums it up! I am debating also what to do about the 'spamming'...if anything. Enjoy the weekend.

  4. Sunny, shame on you - how dare you post these pictures of me without asking! LOL, it's a lot truer than many people know. I hope your daughter and family have a great summer and that the grandparents continue to enjoy themselves!

    1. Sorry, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Sorry PK for using your picture.

  5. I get a lot of spam too. Moderate all keeps it off my blog better than anything else I have tried. Those letter things just annoy me.

  6. I loved this. I saw on FB as well. Sometimes I am afraid to share, because there are a few people who do not appreciate the humor. Thanks for showing this! LOL

  7. Love the picture! The same can be said for moms at the beginning of the summer and at the end. :)

    1. Yes, I think that's probably true. It's been a long time so I don't remember, but then I only had one perfect angel, that is until she turned 13.

  8. Loved the picture.....it would also work for "beginning peri-menopause" and "half way in"

  9. That picture says it all. That is exactly how I felt last week when school let out.

  10. Haha, that's cute! My son's teacher is definitely looking a little frazzled these days. I've been wondering lately whether it would be inappropriate to get an end of the year bottle of bubbly;)

  11. Good for you. Moderation is the only sure way to stop all spam from being published.

  13. I don't think all those apples for the teacher worked out very well. I keep telling everyone teachers need chocolate (and wine for those so inclined).

Capcha is awful. There are a few blogs I can't comment on because their capcha font displays smaller than everyone else's, so small it's squished together and I can't distinguish the characters.

I get spam, but I don't know that I want to bother with moderation.

I can't wait until I can see my grands again, so I feel your happy anticipation. They grow so dang fast. I don't want to miss too much of this time. Hugs.

    1. That's what my daughter says too about the apples, they don't work.

I do hate CAPCHA but the spam was really getting to me. It had increased tremendously in the last couple of months. I am on and off all day so the moderation isn't that difficult.

My one grand turned 13 this year. Seems like only yesterday, but then it seems like that for our daughter as well.

  14. Hi Sunny,

The level of spam does seem to be on the increase. Good on you.

Love the picture. Guess it can be applied to a number of situations.

  16. Love the pic :)

I stops anons exactly because of the spam problem, was just sick of having to delete them. I put mod in for a while, but that didn't stop the spam, so now I don't et anons and I'm sorry about that, but at least no spam at all now :)

    1. Yeah, I'm still getting the spam but I figure once they now they're not getting any play, they'll stop. The mod doesn't bother me too much and its better than the capcha.

  18. Hi Sunny! :)

    Betsy's comment is cute!

Those owl pics are great! Perhaps it's parents just before school is out for the summer, college kids home. Then just as they return to the same. They all come home all independent and stuff, which is exactly what we like to see. When they are away, and we aren't privy to their every move, it is completely more relaxing! LOL! Gotta love em!

Have fun with your grandchildren! Wonderful! :). Hugs!

  19. Your words ring so true. I remember being that one coming home back to the same and knew what to expect whey our daughter did the same. It's the cycle of life. You're right, it's better when you don't know everything.

    We definitely will.

  20. Hey Sunny...CAPCHA sucks but the spam has really increased the last few months. During the time my mom was so bad, I hadn't logged in for two days...when I logged in to my email account, 79 out of the 147 emails, were from 'Anonymous' spammers. Yes, the blogger spammer did catch most of them but I still receive the email. With everything else I have going on, that's just too many emails to wade through to get to the legitimate ones from friends. Most of my comments come from people who have a 'login' and I haven't received any negative feedback so far. Just my way of dealing. ;)

    Blessings,
    Cat

    1. With the moderation on, I mark them as spam on blogger and they never hit my email. I always just read the comments on the blog most of the time rather than email.

The anonymous have been seeping in lately and so far the moderation thing is working.

  21. I've been getting more spam too and it's something I never used to have trouble with.

Those owls--I know some teachers who really do look like that.
