The Drought Continues

After reading PK's post yesterday, I realized I have been a neglectful blogger.  There's nothing to report on the OTK front, but I thought I'd catch you up-to-date on the home front.  I am enjoying being in more space.  For the most part, everything is put away, whether or not I will be able to find something two weeks from now remains to be seen.

There are a few items I need to replace and my friend and I have been scouring the Gently Used shops.  Here, because it's basically a retirement area, there are many from which to choose and some great finds to be had.  I've found several good buys already - even Ray was impressed, and I didn't get a lecture about spending 'too' much.  He's coming with me today - not sure if that's a good idea or not, but I'm in search of a computer/writer's desk and since he'll be using it too, should get his input.

I'm a card player and for the past several years I've been playing in the area in which I now live.  It was nice to walk into the Rec Center last Friday and be greeted and welcomed back by friendly faces. Thanks to new friends, I'm back to walking in the morning.  It's good because I've been a real slacker for the past month or so. On today's walk, I even opened up about being a writer of books of our genre.  No big gasps of surprise - no questions either.  So who knows?

I've collected these lately from FB and don't know if you've seen them or not, but I thought I'd pass them along.  Our good friend, Cat, has some great stuff, and I don't know if I got these from her or not, but hope you like.

Enough for now, see you later for more Aimless Ramblings.

  1. Hi Sunny, I enjoyed reading your update. Glad you are setting in well and enjoying the new house. I bet you are enjoying having more room. I hope the shopping trip with Ray was successful.

How wonderful to be welcomed back by friendly faces. Wonderful too that you are getting back into walking and wow about opening up about your writing, I think that's awesome :)

Love the cards lol. Hope you see some spanky action soon.

    1. I love having more room - I can walk from one room to the next without bumping into Ray or something. It's lovely.

The shopping trip with Ray was not successful - I truly didn't think it would be, but I hoped. He is not a good shopper. Will leave him at home the next time and we'll both be happier.

  3. It is good to hear that you are settling in.....shopping in those shops can be such a fun adventure. I love playing games...NOT talking about 'that' kind...card and board games...would love to find a weekly group here. Weather has been great for outdoor walking temps here...record high is predicted for today..I am loving it.

    1. It is an adventure abby - looking for treasures. It's true what they say that one man's junk is another man's treasures. I'm sure a lot of my 'junk' has been recycled.

Why not start a weekly group for cards and board games. I'm sure we're not the only two people who enjoy them.

So glad your weather has been good to you - may it continue throughout the winter.

  4. I like that you're settling in well. Interesting that you're looking for a writing desk - I have a lap desk and I always write in one of my two recliners (one in living room one in the writing room). Sitting at a desk reminds me of begin at work and that stifles the flow.

    Love both cards.

  5. So nice to hear you are doing well. And that you have a set of friends that have welcomed you. I absolutely love thrift stores. For me, it's like the thrill of the hunt. "Alright, you little bargain, I have got you now!" I think it makes for so much more interesting rooms than buying things that match. Enjoy yourself, Sunny!

    1. It's a good feeling to know and have people around. I don't feel as if we've just moved in. Unfortunately for Ray, his best friend is not here anymore for him to enjoy. He has to make some new friends.

Thrift stores are fun - the other day I found a very nice little original oil for $5.00. The frame alone would cost more than that.

  8. Hi Sunny, I think it is wonderful that you settled in so well. Shopping trips with a friend are awesome, and if you manage to get some great bargains that's even better. :) It is great that you could open up about your writing. Is it possible that some just didn't know how to react? I'd say some questions will follow soon. Wishing you a great shopping trip for the new writer's desk. What would it be like if you could choose?

    hugs

    1. It would be simple - a table with a pull out for the keyboard and a drawer.

Hope your shopping trip with Ray worked out well and you found your desk. Love both those pictures.

  12. I'm away for a bit and you go and "settle down"!!!!!

    I can't believe it!

How exciting for you both. You sound very comfortable already. Is it a town or a village? Or a city? Cards and walking friends - sounds wonderful. I love the expression "gently used".

Looking forwards to your new book!
