#s of TBR's

Our friend Cat commented on one of my posts the other day that she kept getting messages from her Kindle that it was getting full.  I was searching mine the other day for something, and I was amazed how many books are still waiting TBR.  My Kindle, too, is approaching full capacity.

I don't always remove books from the device right away.  Once in a while, there is something in the book I want to remember, and I'll bookmark it and save.  The thing is I never get back to them. Unless it is an absolutely outstanding read, half the time I don't even remember the title.   The other day I decided to go through the list to purge some of the books I've read.  I was astounded at how many books remained 'new'.  Books I've purchased and couldn't wait to read are lying dormant waiting for to click them open.  Then there are the other books I can't believe I've purchased, books that looked so wonderful at the time but now I have absolutely no interest in ever opening them.

Before my first e-reader, which was a Kobo, I regularly borrowed books from the library, thus the reason for the Kobo, it was the only reader that allowed that privilege.  We were running out of space at home, so it seemed like a good way to go.

Being an avid reader, I can go through books pretty quickly, but now that I actually have a life, as Ray puts it, I have less time for reading and writing.  So instead of going through maybe one or two books a day, now weekdays are filled with other activities, and I only read at night while in bed or sometimes on weekends. I have all I can do keeping up with the new books coming out every day by friends I've made here, much less go back and read the books that have been there for months.

The thing is I want to buy books to support my friends, just as I want them to buy my books to support me.  It's a vicious cycle and one I don't see ending anytime soon.  Maybe I just need to buy another Kindle and start fresh, or maybe I just need to stay home more.  The first seems like a better idea.  Right now I'm enjoying being busy - because before I not only expanded my mind but my a** too.

See you later for more Aimless Ramblings.

  1. How about downloading the Apps on your phone for more space...? I lost my Kobo app info so lost some books tooooo! Boo.
Life evolves so much. Work and real life are so busy I have limited time online and pleasure reading.... And my drawing and painting is calling me!

    1. It's more a matter of time rather than space.
I hear you about drawing and painting - I feel that way about playing right now. lol

  3. I bought a kindle with more memory. My son uses it and I actually do re-read books. Some that weren't so good the first time around..

    1. You must be a better time manager than me. I don't think I've re-read a book in years, although I have done it.

  4. I have both a Kindle and Kobo, more to help separate my books by genre - hence my Kindle isn't left lying around to be picked up by the kids ;-) Can you archive books back to the cloud and delete them from your device? This is how Kobo works, which is still my preferred ereader.
Yeah, and my TBR is growing exponentially. Can't think why....

    1. Gee Jay, I wonder why too. As I said to Minelle, it's more a matter of time than space. I have deleted some from my Kindle but I still can't get to all the ones there.

  5. I know exactly what you mean. I have Kindle which is getting full. Also have a Kobo but not too keen on it. I have so many books by bloggers that I feel guilty not having read them yet.

    1. Actually, I have two Kindles - the Kobo I have is now considered a relic. I feel guilty too when I haven't read a book by a fellow blogger.

  6. Okay someone tell me how to tell if my kindle is getting full. I've tons of books but no back long. I try not to buy a book until I'm ready to read it. And I can't delete any because I LOVE going back and re-reading books - they are like comfort food or flannel PJ in front of the fire.

    1. Go into settings - look under storage.
      I can't not buy a book when I see it - I won't remember it if I don't buy right away.
You can delete off your device. They will still be stored in your Amazon Library, but I don't have time to re-read.

  7. I can't delete any books since I love going back and re-reading. Every physical book I have read has been read more than once...some many times. That doesn't mean I don't have a huge TBR stack here in addition to the huge and getting huger (I know that's really not a word) every weekend. Think I might totally clean off my kindle...all the books from Amazon are in my account and can be re-downloaded and all the others are also on my computer. Then I will download all cookbooks, art, and other reference/hobby books to my computer (Kindle app) and then download my other books back to my Kindle. Lot of work so haven't done it yet. :D

    Hugs and blessings...Cat

    1. If I had time to do all that, I'd have more time for reading, she says laughing.

  10. This seems to be cyclical for me. There are times when I read and read and read to my heart's delight. And then there are times when I have trouble keeping up with emails and blogs much less having time for books. I say get a new Kindle! ;)

  11. I've got both a kindle and kobo. Much prefer the kindle though and have so many books waiting to be read as I also purchase them as soon as I see them. I've stopped going into the fb site quite so often so I can't see new books. Need to read all the ones I have first. Like you don't always have the time now I'm becoming more social.
    What a dilemma.

  12. I have many books on my wish list to read and too little time to devote to reading...at some point I will make reading a priority for a while... :-) Hugs

  13. Hi Sunny, my TBR list is also ever-growing, but I have not checked whether my kindle is full. I have only removed few books, and like to see older titles again. I guess I'd rather have another kindle to fill. :)

    hugs
