There are a few items I need to replace and my friend and I have been scouring the Gently Used shops. Here, because it's basically a retirement area, there are many from which to choose and some great finds to be had. I've found several good buys already - even Ray was impressed, and I didn't get a lecture about spending 'too' much. He's coming with me today - not sure if that's a good idea or not, but I'm in search of a computer/writer's desk and since he'll be using it too, should get his input.
I'm a card player and for the past several years I've been playing in the area in which I now live. It was nice to walk into the Rec Center last Friday and be greeted and welcomed back by friendly faces. Thanks to new friends, I'm back to walking in the morning. It's good because I've been a real slacker for the past month or so. On today's walk, I even opened up about being a writer of books of our genre. No big gasps of surprise - no questions either. So who knows?
I've collected these lately from FB and don't know if you've seen them or not, but I thought I'd pass them along. Our good friend, Cat, has some great stuff, and I don't know if I got these from her or not, but hope you like.
Enough for now, see you later for more Aimless Ramblings.
Hi Sunny, I enjoyed reading your update. Glad you are setting in well and enjoying the new house. I bet you are enjoying having more room. I hope the shopping trip with Ray was successful.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be welcomed back by friendly faces. Wonderful too that you are getting back into walking and wow about opening up about your writing, I think that's awesome :)
Love the cards lol. Hope you see some spanky action soon.
Hugs
Roz
I love having more room - I can walk from one room to the next without bumping into Ray or something. It's lovely.
DeleteThe shopping trip with Ray was not successful - I truly didn't think it would be, but I hoped. He is not a good shopper. Will leave him at home the next time and we'll both be happier.
Hi Sunny, I am glad you are enjoying the new house, I do love a bit of shopping :)
ReplyDeleteJust need to goad Ray into a bit of action, best you spend too much and play up on the shopping trip!
love Jan,xx
P.S. I didn't hold out to Christmas , the new book is on my kindle already, lol
We are enjoying being out of one another's hair. He has a man cave and he is loving it too.
DeleteHope you enjoy the book Jan and thanks always for the support.
Happy to hear you are settling in.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose - it's a good feeling.
DeleteIt is good to hear that you are settling in.....shopping in those shops can be such a fun adventure. I love playing games...NOT talking about 'that' kind...card and board games...would love to find a weekly group here. Weather has been great for outdoor walking temps here...record high is predicted for today..I am loving it.

It is an adventure abby - looking for treasures. It's true what they say that one man's junk is another man's treasures. I'm sure a lot of my 'junk' has been recycled.
DeleteWhy not start a weekly group for cards and board games. I'm sure we're not the only two people who enjoy them.
So glad your weather has been good to you - may it continue throughout the winter.
I like that you're settling in well. Interesting that you're looking for a writing desk - I have a lap desk and I always write in one of my two recliners (one in living room one in the writing room). Sitting at a desk reminds me of begin at work and that stifles the flow.
ReplyDeleteLove both cards.
Haven't found what I'm looking for yet - but I will. Just have to be patient.
DeleteSo nice to hear you are doing well. And that you have a set of friends that have welcomed you. I absolutely love thrift stores. For me, it's like the thrill of the hunt. "Alright, you little bargain, I have got you now!" I think it makes for so much more interesting rooms than buying things that match. Enjoy yourself, Sunny!
ReplyDeleteElla
It's a good feeling to know and have people around. I don't feel as if we've just moved in. Unfortunately for Ray, his best friend is not here anymore for him to enjoy. He has to make some new friends.
DeleteThrift stores are fun - the other day I found a very nice little original oil for $5.00. The frame alone would cost more than that.
Hey SG, so happy that you are settling into your new house.
ReplyDelete| love looking for bargains though I don't seem to find many:) Hope you and Ray enjoyed your shopping trip.
Love,
Ronnie
xx
I do too. Found some today.
DeleteThanks for the wishes.
It sounds like things are going well. Your own little "peace" of life. Hope you have more great finds and that your walks continue.
ReplyDeleteThey are Blondie - Definitely enjoying our little piece of peace.
DeleteHi Sunny, I think it is wonderful that you settled in so well. Shopping trips with a friend are awesome, and if you manage to get some great bargains that's even better. :) It is great that you could open up about your writing. Is it possible that some just didn't know how to react? I'd say some questions will follow soon. Wishing you a great shopping trip for the new writer's desk. What would it be like if you could choose?

Nina
It would be simple - a table with a pull out for the keyboard and a drawer.
DeleteGreat to here you're settling in. Gently Used made me smile, haven't heard of that, like it. Like the cards too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like my phrase. Cards made me laugh.
DeleteGreat to hear you are settling in, bet you are enjoying all the space around you. Wonderful you have been welcomed by your friends to the card group and you are walking with them. MMM will be interesting to see if anything more is said about your books, maybe they are all into TTWD also.
ReplyDeleteHope your shopping trip with Ray worked out well and you found your desk. Love both those pictures.
Hugs Lindy
I am enjoying the space. Ray is not a good shopper and the next time I'm leaving him home. Still looking for the desk.
DeleteSo excited for another new adventure coming to us from your household. You are such a lucky lady! I love how life never gets stagnant for you guys! I'm sure that's why you live young!
ReplyDeleteHope you find interesting things at the thrift stores!
Maybe you will find a hairbrush--- wooden of course.... Then pass it on to Ray!
I agree - I am blessed. No moss or mold growing here.
DeleteI'm away for a bit and you go and "settle down"!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it!
How exciting for you both. You sound very comfortable already. Is it a town or a village? Or a city? Cards and walking friends - sounds wonderful. I love the expression "gently used".
Looking forwards to your new book!
Hugs
Ami
Hey Ami, it's a town, about 1/2 hour NW of Phoenix. It is pretty wonderful having room to move around.
DeleteNice to hear how you are doing and that you are settling well into your new home. It must be a nice change to have more space and to find things to fill it. It is great that you were able to open up about your writing. You are a great author and nice to be able to share with your friends. Thanks for the update. Take care. Hugs
