QUESTIONS??????

I know just the people who know the answer to this question.  The person who has been my blogger mentor has taken on a lot since Bonnie retired her blog.  Should I use quotation marks there? Is that a clue? The other person is everyone's friend and posts every single day so she's busy finding things to make us giggle, grin and reflect.

Anyway, I have a couple of questions involving Blogger - the lady that has to be suffering through menopause because she is so mercurial, but we love her anyway.  Don't we?

1.  How do you remove an address from the reading list?  I have read the damn instructions and I know I'm not stupid but can't seem to understand what they are telling me.  So laymen's terms please - there are blogs on my list that are no longer in existence and others I no longer visit. I can't remove them.  Why can't it be a gadget?

2.  Lately, when I post the first comment of the day on whatever blog, it disappears and I have to sign in again.  This is a new twist and most of the time my comments are not long enough that it is a bother, but other times I really have my filter on and find just the right words, hit publish and poof - gone.  I've taken to hitting copy first but unfortunately my brain is sometimes on overload because I've taken so much time filtering and forget.  Are you smiling yet?

Those are my Aimless Ramblings for today.  Thanking Hermione and Cat in advance. Smiling.

  1. I need to figure that out again. Most of the blogs on my reading list are inactive yet again. Purge the old and add a few new ones.

  2. I would really like the answer to #1 also...I can add blogs to my list, but where is the dang remove button...half of them don't exist anymore...ugh...so frustrating.

The same thing is happening to me re comments. I just left a comment for you posted and not there. Look forward to Hermione or Cat's answers.

  4. Let me begin by saying - I know nothing. I'm sure that didn't shock you, but when the lovely Ceeci made my blog here is a little 'tool' at the bottom of my blogroll when I sign in. It looks like a screw drive and a wrench in an X. I click that and it takes me to where I can add or delete a blog. I don't know how she put it there, but that's what I use. Probably not a big help, but I'm trying.

  5. Open in Blogger Layout, choose blog list, edit
There is a list with your blogs and behind that edit and remove.

The posts disappearing is because you have not logged in in Blogger. You can open Blogger, but just have to sign in (right hand corner of sceen). That shoud do the trick.

Let me know if it still doesn't work

    1. I knew about the blog list, it was the blog roll I needed assistance. Thanks.

I'll try your trick, but usually once I signed into gmail, I was okay. Never had to do the blogger thing before but I'll try it.

  6. Hi Sunny,

Yes, quotation marks would have been just fine!

Question #1 - to remove blogs from your reading list, go to http://www.blogger.com/manage-blogs-following.g

Find the blog you want to stop following, click Settings, Stop Following this Blog

Are you seeing "We are unable to load your FriendConnect data at this time."? If so, use Google Friend Connect: Sites I've joined, instead of Blogger: Manage Blogs I'm Following, to prune your Reading List.

Han's and PK's instructions above are for removing blogs from the blog list gadget, not the reading list.

Question #2 - This blog uses the embedded comment form. If you or your readers do not have third party cookies enabled on your browsers, then the comments will not be published on the embedded comment form. You may also have other filters, anti-virus etc. in operation that will also prevent comments from publishing but that is the main reason. Go to your browser settings and enable third-party cookies.

Blogs that use the popup (Ronnie's blog) or full page comment form (mine) will not present this problem.

    I hope this helps.

    Hugs,
    Hermione

    1. I don't think I have Google Friend (I get a terms contract to sign when I try to look it up) - so will this method still work for me? And if so, can you give more specific directions? Thanks!

    2. Hi Cali,

Yes, this will work for you if you are signed on to Blogger (Google). You do have Google Friend Connect - it's the Followers gadget.

      Hugs,
      Hermione

    3. Hermione, I've tried doing the manage thing before. When I hit the setting button,, nothing happens

    4. Hey Sunny...when you click the Settings link, it pops up another window so if you have popups blocked, you won't see anything...you can get around this by right-clicking on settings and click 'open in new tab' or 'open in new window'. Hope this helps. Think everyone above helped with the other questions...let me know if they don't work.

      Hugs and Blessings...
      Cat

    5. Thanks, Cat. I needed that extra piece about opening in new window. The old way didn't require that.

    6. Hermione, Thank you. You've come to my rescue again. I'm going to have send you a lifesaver jacket. :-)

  7. If you are talking about removing blogs from your list on your own blog, PK is right. I think if you are signed into blogger, you should see your email and an option for 'new post' and 'design' up in the right hand corner - then a little screwdriver thingy should show up in the lower right corner of each of your gadget sections that if you click on, it allows you to make those changes.

But another way is to go to your design option - then go to layout - then where your blog list is, click edit. You'll get a pop up window that allows you to remove blogs.

If you are talking about removing blogs from your blog roll - it seems to be a bit trickier as you have to go to that persons blog to get removed - and if they've removed their blog, you can't do that, so it's a catch 22 (which is really irritating!) Hope this helps.
I don't know why the other thing keeps happening to you though :(
    hugs,
    Cali

  8. I did it today.
    1. Go to your blogger board
    2. There will setting cogs icons all over this page. Choose the one just above and to the right go your reading list.
    3. It will open with your reading list and on the right side of each blog it will say private/ settings.
4". Choose the setting on the blog you want to delete.
    5. It will ask what action you want to choose, delete.
    6. It will ask you to confirm you want to delete.
    Done

    Hope this helps

  9. I just want to clarify something because we are all using different terms here.

The blogroll or blog list is the blog list gadget that you added to your blog. It's usually in the sidebar (left or right side) and contains all the blogs that you added to it. You usually see the latest post title and/or picture there.

The reading list is what you see when you are in the Blogger dashboard, as soon as you log on. It's below the list of your blogs. That is what my instructions above referred to.

    I hope that helps!

However there are others who help me as well....It gets complicated for me just reading about the technology and the responses to your question...do yeou doubt that? Remember me beginning my blog? I lost three other blogs in the blogging quagmire...on accident!
