Saw these and had me laughing. I was a kid long before many of you and life was not filled with the warnings we live with today.
Life was simpler, not easier, but simpler.
Of course, we didn't have FB or internet back then so I wouldn't have been able to share.
Hope you get a chuckle out of them.
Have a good day everyone and be sure to stop by tomorrow for another new story. See you later for more Aimless Ramblings.
it was a great time back then
ReplyDeleteWe did have a great time and I wouldn't have traded it. Thankfully, our daughter was able to experience some of it.
DeleteMe too, I was just talking about the street light curfew with someone...we had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeletehugs abby
That we did.
DeleteLoL Sunny, thanks for the giggle. I can relate to these LoL
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Roz
Glad I jogged the memory bank.
DeleteGlad you giggled and glad you can giggle when thinking about you related.
Deletesometimes the warning labels on things make me laugh... thanks for sharing these :-) hugs
ReplyDeleteSome of the disclaimers really makes you wonder how many idiots there are out there.
DeleteOh dear, seems like I'm doing things wrong again :( I still go out the back and shout for my kids to come back, they drink out the hose pipe( didn't know they shouldn't ) and they're always dirty till I bath them on the night again, and they come home when the church bells ring 6 times haha call social services ;)
ReplyDeleteLove this, why is life so much more complicated nowadays??? I watched a documentary once about how this generation of kids, aren't street wise at all and we protect them so much, they're becoming too depended on us and will not grow up to become confident young adults. Why as parents are we so scared to let them learn from their mistakes ?
Hugs x
If you're doing these things, you are not doing it wrong. It seems to me that kids today grow up to fast and have no time to be children.
DeleteWe protect them from life so that when they go out into the real world, they don't know how to handle things on their own. We think we doing it right but, in my opinion, we are doing them a disservice.
And may I add a few more things? Slip and Slide...Lawn darts...and self push merry go rounds...as those were the days...LOLOLOL
ReplyDeleteThey certainly were, days filled with good fun *(well mostly good). lol.
DeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteGlad
DeleteDifferent generations, worlds apart. We often drank water from our garden hose, and lived to tell about it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe did a lot of things and ate a lot of stuff and we're still here. Imagine that.
DeleteI know you're older than me, but I did all of these things and so do my kids, well some of them. Times change, things are different. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteGood for you and your kids. They learn how to make decisions for themselves which is something that seems to be missing now.
DeleteMM here... nice to know I'm not the ONLY geezer around these parts...
ReplyDeleteMM, I'm probably old enough to be your mother, so no you are definitely not the only geezer.
DeleteGlad you are back.
Can relate to these. Things were different then.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Ronnie
xx
Things might not have all been great, but for kids it was a perfect time.
DeleteThese take me back...it's the way I was raised and the way I raised my kids. Think I watched the same or similar documentary that Missy saw...the newer generations of kids are not only overprotected and not street wise but do not know how to handle any negative issues and expect mommy and daddy to bail them out. Can we say the 'entitled' and 'over-protected' generations. ;)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cat
The scary part is they are the ones that will be in charge someday. Hope they wise up. lol
DeleteI had a great childhood. My dad even showed us how to make bow and arrows. We were not stupid and followed his advice never to aim at a living thing! We made forts, go-carts, played dress-up, baseball, catch one catch all... and...snake in the grass! We put on shows and charged a nickle to enter....Wow do I count myself lucky!
ReplyDeleteHowever I may have passed on my worry wart tendencies!
We were lucky, I know I did all of those things and I remember our daughter doing a lot of them too. I don't see the grands doing it though. They seemed to be booked solid.
DeleteI wish things were this way now :) Thanks for the laugh! I hope so much even though my daughter will be growing up with what seems like endless technology that she will still see the value in the simpler things! I'll do my best :)
ReplyDeleteI shutter to think what todays kids and young adults would do without technology. If we ever lose the grid we are in such trouble.
DeleteIt was a great way to grow up! We could play or ride our bikes around town for hours without our mothers knowing exactly where we were. Dinner was at 5:30 and you were expected to be home around 5 to get cleaned up and set the table.
ReplyDeleteThat it was Meg. I think the whole country operated under those rules back then. Thinking back to some of the things we did, it was a darn good thing our mothers didn't know exactly where we were and what we were doing. They would have gone grey.
DeleteThis is exactly how it was when I grew up! We were just talking about all this while on vacation. it's sad our kids won't know some of these things. I let my kids run amuck but with a few strings attached. Just last summer we had a van driving though our neighborhood asking kids if they wanted to get in to help the driver find his lost puppy... O_O We called the sheriff and had him watched. How crazy that we have to worry so much!
ReplyDeleteMy kids drink out of the hoses and come home at dark, but they get a huge lecture about not talking to strangers each time they go out!
I hate how they are so attached to technology but our summer rule is still - GO PLAY OUTSIDE! ;) they eventually find something to do. Make forts, have treasure hunts, and ride bikes. Just the way I like it.
-Emi
Good for you Emi, letting your kids do "kid" things.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad we have to be so carefuly today because of the perverts that stalk our children, it robs them of the freedom we used to know. Half the time anymore, you don't even know your neighbors the way we did when we were young. Everyone watched out for everyone. Simpler times because we weren't so busy chasing our tails.
