Another Year in the Making

We had a very quiet New Year's Eve this year.  We went out for an early dinner and then to the movies.  We went to see The New 40.  It was the funniest movie we have seen in a long, long time.  I know hubby thought it was a "chick flick" but he humored me and ended up laughing as much as I did. If you get a chance you have to see that movie.

Lots of fireworks at midnight.  I thought they just did that in the south.  My bad.   The funny thing is is that it is illegal to set off fireworks here but it is not illegal to sell them. Another one of those ridiculous things that are beyond comprehension. We only watched for a little while because it was too cold to stay out long.  It was about 35 degrees.  I know, I know, but we're not used to it. We had some fireworks of our own, just sparklers though, no firecrackers or roman candles.

New Year's Day was a quadruple F day.  Friends, fun, football and food.  I think the scale may break if I get on it in the morning.  Going to have to wait a few days and go on a food austerity program first.

Thank you everyone for all of the wonderful New Year greetings. Hope you all had a safe and happy New Year and that it just keeps getting better and better.

See you later for more Aimless Ramblings.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend New Years Eve and Day. Ours was fairly quiet, but enjoyable.

Thanks for the heads up about the movie, haven't seen it yet. Isn't that strange about being able to sell fireworks, but not let them off. The mind boggles!

    1. It was nice, a little more low key than usual for us, but fun nonetheless.

  7. Food austerity program, that sounds so much more doable then a diet, lol. I'm looking forward to another year of Aimless Ramblings, you know it feeds my gypsy soul :D

  9. Sounds like a good start to the new year! I like the quadruple F! lol I know what you mean about the scale. I got on one on new year's day and it didn't break, but I wasn't very happy with the number that came up. :(

    1. It was a great start. I expanded on your Triple F. Sorry I didn't ask permission first but you know what they say, better to ask for forgiveness. Am I forgiven?

    2. No forgiveness needed! lol

    1. Oh Lillie, that doesn't sound good. The saying that whatever happens on New Year happens all year long doesn't bode well for certain areas if I am reading between the lines correctly.

  12. Well like I said to Ana, I'll take what happened at Midnight and after....not getting sick at 2:30 AM!
Hmmm My dear wasn't supposed to be home so I lucked out.

It sounds like your New Years Day was so much fun. I too am avoiding the scale with a ferocity unequaled ever before. I am scared oh so scared! lol

  15. Fireworks came in all sorts, around the New Year.
Clearly the year was off to a good start all over the globe.
    What? Monday story in danger?
How about a story about the wife that's forced on the scales on January 2 ?

Sorry, couldn't resist it. I think the New year did naughty things to my mind.

Any other ideas, I will gladly take into consideration.
