Getting Political

This  appeared on FACEBOOK this past week.  In light of events  of the past week here in the United States, they are some very good ideas.  I didn’t check it out on Snopes but supposedly these are Warren Buffet’s ideas about how we can fix what is definitely broken.
CONGRESSIONAL REFORM ACT 2013
1.        No Tenure/No Pension.
2.        A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they’re out of office.
3.        Congress (past, present and future) participate in Social Security.
4.        All funds in the Congressional Retirement Fund pass to Social Security immediately.  All future funds flow into the Social Security system and Congress participates with the American people.  It may not be used for any other purpose.
5.        Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
6.        Congress will not longer vote themselves a pay raise.  Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
7.        Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
8.        Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
9.        All contracts with past and present Congressmen/Women are void effective 12/31/2013.  The American people did not make a contract with Congressmen/women.  Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves.
10.        Serving Congress is an honor not a career.  The Founding Fathers envisioned citizens legislators, so ours should serve their term(s) and go home.

There is another thing that can be added.  It’s what I’ve been doing for years - never vote for an incumbent beyond two terms.  If it applies to the president, it should apply to the Congress .  It would eliminate a lot of problems and since they will not pass a bill limiting their own terms, this is how we can do it for them.

The rest of the world is having a great laugh. I think they all need a spanking.
See you later for more Aimless Ramblings.

    1. Well, they are the ones that vote, so not much chance of that.

  4. No, not laugh. I do feel for the workers who have been sent home - that is stressful and tough on them.
I, possibly like many Europeans, simply don't get how American politics is so complicated. There are only two parties. At least your upper house is elected, unlike in the UK.

    1. We don't get it either. The two parties are like 2 year olds. I too feel bad for those that have to suffer for this temper tantrum.

  5. I completely agree. I'm so completely ticked off with our country right now. This whole shut down thing is ridiculous. A lot of good hardworking people are going to be in a financial mess because of this. They are NOT working for the people at all and haven't done so for decades.

    1. I so agree Tomsrose. That is why I I always tell people not to vote for incumbents beyond two terms. It's a crime. I think a little anarchy might be a good thing.

  6. Well I think all politicians are liers, no matter which party you vote for. They do not serve us, they serve themselves and their own political aspirations. Power...power! That is all they cre about. We should all be allowed to do well. They should not be able to stamp a benefit they themselves are taking advantage of. I think the American people should all be able to have health care equally, not based on income. So if you are poor you should not live! You are rich you can! BUNK!
I like the idea of pensions and Social Security...Your idea of terms...SPOT ON!!!
The politicians are idiots!!! ALL OF THEM!!!
