Eye Candy

For those of you not familiar these are pictures of Eucalyptus trees. They are found all over this area and history books say the first ones were planted around 1860.  Where we are currently parked is right along Rte. 101, also known as El Camino Real and we are surrounded by them.  They are so majestic - about 100 to 150 feet tall.  The air is always aromatic with their scent and I love it.

The trees were originally planted to harvest the wood for furniture making.  The bark peels and sheds and are the most interesting colors. New trees have almost blue/green leaves much like the sprigs you buy in the store but as they grow older and taller the color is almost a grey green.

The picture at right is a walking path I frequently use.

This is a picture of the surrounding area as you drive along the highway.  Reminds me of all the pictures you see of Tuscany.

Drive a little further and you run into this "eye candy".

Just wanted to share some of the beautiful scenery we see every day.  This is just another beautiful area of this country.

Eye candy of a different sort. Didn't want to disappoint.

Have a wonderful day and see you later for more Aimless Ramblings.

  7. All of the photos are wonderful. I don't think I've ever seen Eucalyptus trees, I would have guessed those branches we buy were from bushes. Your blog is so educational. And Sarah's right, you never disappoint.
