A friend of mine posted this on her FB page today. I absolutely loved it and wanted to share. It is so very true. Some of us were just discussing this today as we watched our nieces and nephews play. They have no judgement, no hate, just love.
So true, I look at my 6th graders and hear them parrot their parents perfectly. So many of them have such screwed up ideas. It's hard to correct some of the misconception without calling their parents idiots! Something that is frowned upon.
My husband and I never wanted our children to have prejudice. We see the fruits of our labor in the friends they have chosen. Fear is what propels the misconceptions of racism.
Well it is not just racism, which is not a big problem in Europe. It always has been popular to point at an etnic group and say: They are guilty of everything. Many governments have made that an official policy, because having a scape goat, means it is not your fault.

DeleteThis reminds of the saying, everything I need to know I learned in Kindergarten. Actually I think it is the title of a book, but really, oh so true :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes even before then.
