Dropping By

Hello

Visiting some of fav's yesterday, my last post on July 13th popped out.  That was the last time I posted.  OMG it hasn't seemed that long.  Time has just whizzed by and the summer along with it.  It has been busy and hot, hot, hot (weather wise, that is).

Ray's birthday party was great fun and it was really a whole birthday weekend.  My brother and his SO and our daughter made it very special.  We ate and drank way too much - made getting older a little more palatable - for Ray anyway.  August arrived with a big anniversary for us and hubby surprised me with a weekend at one of the iconic hotels here in AZ.

This weekend our grandson heads off to college.  He is so excited while our daughter is teary.  I do remember when she went off, hell I remember when I went off.  Things are never the same once they go off on their own for a while even when they do come home.  My youngest grandson starts high school on Monday and he is a little trepidatious. He will be attending the school where his father is the principal and it didn't work out too well for his brother.  We shall see.   He has decided to give up soccer and play football. Scary for his mom and I - father and grandfather are fine.  He is fast and will play running back.  You know the hits those guys take and G is tall and wiry - strong but there is not a lot of meat on his bones.  Keeping fingers crossed.

Did something we haven't done since we moved here.  It's too hot to do any outdoor activities so we decided to check out the casino while daughter was here.  It's only five minutes from home.  We all signed up for the fan appreciation card giving you at least ten dollars of free play.  Well, E scored big - she got 1,000 free play and went home with most of it still in her pocket.  Needless to say, she was excited and planned a back to school shopping spree.  She too will be a school principal this year.

Not one word has been put to paper since I stopped blogging. Not sure when or even if I will get back to stories and books.  Once in a while, I get an idea but that's as far as it goes.  I think I 'worded' out at least for the immediate future.

That's it for today.  I'm going to do that meme everyone has posted.  It will be up on Friday.

See you later for more Aimless Ramblings.

  1. HI! glad to see you. It's surely not easy being a student in the school where any relative is a teacher / principal! sounds like lots of things are happening and some big changes will follow. I hope you've been having a great summer aside from the hot hot hot heat. Glad to hear about Ray's wonderful birthday celebration, and Happy Belated Anniversary!

  4. Sounds like you've been busy. Wow, they're both principals? I hope it works out better for your grandson under his father than he thinks it will be. I hope the break is good from writing, and that when it's time to go back, you'll feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle several ideas. :)

  6. Leigh,
Happy Belated Anniversary to you and your husband! That and birthdays, and the boys leaving for college/starting high school are some events. I hope the rest of your summer goes as well as it seems to have been going for you. Taking a break and feeding your soul can get those creative writing juices flowing again when the time is right. Good to read here on your blog! Hugs! Windy

  8. So glad to see you around! I'm glad you're having fun even if it's not our here writing for us. It is hard sending them to college. For little girls we start dreaming of having a baby as soon as someone put that first baby doll in our arms. When they leave our homes so many years later I think it leaves us a little stunned.

You keep on partying, gambling and thinking - maybe a story will come.
